In a race to boost ratings, the CBC has entered into the realm of reality television programming. The departure from solidly produced reputable programming represents a lowering of standards at the corporation, nothing more, and nothing less.

CBC Reality TVThe two part misadventure creatively entitled "Raging Hormones", places CBC cameras in the homes of two Canadian families, as they go about their daily family life. Throw Canadian "Tool-Gal", Mag Ruffman into the mix, who interacts with the family, namely some spoiled rotten kids with "Raging Hormones", and it all adds up to something Un-CBC, and quite frankly unworthy of Canadian tax dollars.

The CBC describes the series as "raw, candid and real. The two-part special offers no pat answers or easy solutions. Raging Hormones will not leave you neutral and will get you, your family and friends talking".

For a moment you may have thought they were describing Coach's corner, with Don Cherry. But back to reality; the CBC already produces some of the best "Reality" television in the country, News, Hockey Night in Canada, and an endless list of award winning Documentaries. The CBC should stick to what they do best, and stop chasing ratings knowing full well a risk of reputation erosion will be the trade-off.
