With the Shelburne youth detention centre
set to be shut down, three recent tenders for groceries,
over a six month period, issued by the provincial government
has hungry stomachs asking the obvious question;
HOW MUCH FOOD CAN TWO KIDS EAT OVER A SIX MONTH
PERIOD?
Here's a breakdown of items tendered:
Meat and poultry:
Total - 765 kg's of meat and poultry, items include
Boneless Rib Eye Steak, Donair Meat, Pork Chops no less
than 3/4" thick, Fresh Round Steak Full Slice 1/2"
frozen not acceptable, Bacon, Turkey, Turkey Loaf, and
much much more.
Frozen Foods
Total - 54 cases of vegetables, including, Corn
Niblets, Peas, Carrots, Mixed Veggies, and more
Groceries
Total - 737 CASES of mixed food including this very small
sample:
30 cases of Farmers 20/80 butter 30 packages
at 1 pound each per carton = 900 pounds of 20/80 butter.
4 cases of PREMIUM BLEND, OR MOTHER PARKER
COFFEE.
18 cases of Chase and Sanborn ground
coffee
1 case instant coffee decaff
45 cases of Mr. Noodle 24 per case.
6 cases of Kraft Dinner 48 per-case
6 cases of tuna
30 bags of Robin Hood 20kg per bag flour
94.4 kg of Cheese, cheddar and mozza.
6 pails of pie filling, 12kg per pail
18 pails of vegetable oil, 16 litre per
pail
