The
Liberal Party of Canada has introduced its new logo, a
new visual identity for a party which looks confidently
to the future. The new design signals the Party's renewal
and clear vision for the future, while building on the
values that have guided the Liberal Party for more than
a century. It incorporates key elements that have come
to symbolize the Party's philosophy of openness and inclusion.
Its features include:
- the maple leaf as a symbol of the Liberal Party's commitment
to Canada;
- red as the predominant colour;
- an "arc" design which evokes the party's status
as Canada's only truly national party, a horizon filled
with possibilities for the country, as well as its vision
of a strong and united Canada;
- the arc, of course, doubles as an "accent aigu"
to demonstrate the bilingual nature of the party; and
- a new typeface which gives the logo a crisp, contemporary
look.
The party's updated look replaces that introduced
in 1993. Most federal parties have changed their visual
identities several times during that period. "While
the Liberal Party of Canada is extremely proud of its
heritage, it is focused on the future. We are a strong
national Party that will always find new and better ways
to serve the citizens of Canada. Under Prime Minister
Paul Martin, we will continue to grow stronger together
through a shared vision of how we can build a better Canada,"
said party president Michael Eizenga.
