A back-room political insider has informed Halifax Live on the condition of anonymity that NDP MP, Alexa McDonough is considering retirement if the Federal Liberal government falls.

However, our source says Alexa will pound the pavement with a veteran NS NDP MLA, to ensure fortress Halifax remains in the hand's of the NDP.

Although Halifax Live has not yet been able to confirm this rumour, our source says the MLA for Halifax Needham, Maureen MacDonald, may be on the campaign trail in the federal riding of Halifax with Cheerleader Alexa McDonough in tow.
