Google, the Internet search engine that has revolutionized the way people search for information on the Web is doubling the amount of storage space on its e-mail service called GMail.

With the increase, users will be able to store a massive 2 gigabytes of e-mail messages and attachments for each account, twice the capacity previously offered.

GMail is now the fourth most visited e-mail service available on the Web.

The move will put pressure on other e-mail providers like Yahoo to step up to the plate and offer improvements to their service.

Google launched GMail one year ago.
