Star Wars creator George Lucas has confirmed that he is currently working on a television live action series based on one of his Star Wars characters. Each episode will be 1 hour in length and in Season 1, Lucas will be in the director's chair.

When asked last October about a possible TV show revolving around the Star Wars theme Lucas responded, "Ultimately, I'm going to probably move it into television...I'm sort of preserving the feature film part for what has happened and never go there again, but I can go off into various offshoots and things".

The TV series will focus on events between 'Revenge of the Sith' and the original Star Wars movies and Lucas alluded to the possibility that the series could focus on some characters from the original trilogy.

The Star Wars saga debuted in 1977 with 'Star Wars: A New Hope' and ultimately produced 6 feature films ending with the currently running, 'Episode III - Revenge of The Sith' which is the third of the prequel series.

No specific date has been given for an estimated release of the television series.
