Everyone knows the perennial Halloween favourite tune, 'The Monster Mash' and many can sing along word for word. Bobby Pickett co-created and recorded the song 44 years ago and every year since, the song receives air time on most radio stations throughout North America on Halloween.
But this year Pickett, with concerns of the effects of global warming has re-recorded the song to fit the times and to throw a few jibes directly at George Bush and Condi Rice - 'The Climate Mash'.
The Climate Mash is being distributed on the Internet and is accompanied by a flash animation depicting George Bush taking a bath in oil and Condi Rice navigating a broom stick ,accompanied by lyrics such as:
"We were hiking past the White House late one night
When our eyes beheld an eerie sight
The president appeared, with folks very strange
The zombies and vampires of global climate change.."
The Climate Mash is gaining popularity daily as more and more netizens share and download the file. Says Pickett, "The Internet is ideal for this type of thing. You reach so many more people than in the old days of radio and then TV."
