 John Graydon of Dartmouth, N.S., awoke this morning at 3 a.m. and began getting ready for his shift at the Enfield Airport. By 3:19 a.m., he'd checked his Lotto 6/49 ticket and knew he'd never have to work again.

John and his father Patrick Graydon were the sole winners of the Dec. 28, Lotto 6/49 draw. Their ticket is worth $15,427,356 - enough they say to keep them golfing around the world.

Both men see a lot of golfing in their future. "We don't have our passports so it looks like Florida is where we'll start," says Patrick. "I'm thinking of buying the course at home....it's up for sale," joked John.

Nova Scotia Liberal Leader, Francis MacKenzie, is pleased with the progress his caucus made in 2005 on behalf of Nova Scotians. He is looking forward to another year of Liberal accomplishments both in and outside the Legislature.

"I am particularly pleased with our work during the spring and summer to make sure 2200 seniors, unfairly charged $487,000 in Pharmacare premiums, got their money back," said MacKenzie. "And of course, more recently we introduced legislation to protect children from the dangers of ATVs. We brought the issue to the forefront and pushed it onto the government agenda. Although government and the NDP chose politics over the safety of children, we will continue to strongly oppose and monitor government's inaction."

Michelin Announces Safety Recall on Certain Tires

Michelin North America has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Transport Canada that it is recalling approximately 6,500 Michelin(R) Pilot(R) Sport 255/35ZR20 97Y Extra Load tires in the United States and Canada. This
recall involves these specific tires only and has no impact on any other Michelin tires.

RCMP Launches Income Trust-Related Criminal Investigation; Goodale Will Not Step Down

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Commissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli has notified  NDP Finance critic Judy Wasylycia-Leis that the RCMP has launched a criminal investigation into the Liberal government, related to the income trust issue.

Mr. Zaccardelli confirmed that the RCMP has launched a criminal investigation "regarding a possible breach of security or illegal transfer of information in advance of the federal government's announcement of changes to the taxation of Canadian corporate dividends and income trusts November 23, 2005."

In light of this development, Wasylycia-Leis today called on Liberal Finance Minister Ralph Goodale to step aside from his Cabinet role, until the criminal investigation is complete.

Elections Canada's Christmas Day Gift

The presents are opened, the bird is in the oven, the Christmas dinner table is set and today Canadian voters can add one more activity to their holiday intinerary - we can vote.

Elections Canada has opened advanced voting polls for the upcoming federal election in all 308 federal ridings. Canadians will be able to cast their vote between the hours of 12 noon until 4 PM across the country today.

If one feels the need to cast your ballet today, go to http://www.elections.ca/ and enter your postal code to find your local returning officer.

Of course if Christmas Day is just too hectic, more advanced polling will be held on New Year's Day.

Even more polls will be open on January 13, 14 and 16, 2006.
