The North End Diner, on the corner of Gottigen and Bloomfield, serves an excellent breakfast, but please don’t go there.

There are some positive reviews that are easier written than others. Take for example last weeks review of the Bach Café: I wrote it in the full knowledge that any praise would not cause me any inconvenience, since Korean food has only a niche appeal. Hence, there was little danger that the next time I would decide to pop by, the amassed crowds would keep me from claiming my usual table next to the window.

MacKenzie Concerned About Tourism

Liberal Leader, Francis MacKenzie, says the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism statistics for the Annapolis Valley do not reflect what operators in the area are actually saying about what they're calling a "lousy" season. The report shows occupancy rates in Annapolis Valley motels, bed-and-breakfasts and campgrounds are down by 4 per cent, and the number of nights sold down by 10 per cent. However, those who make their living renting out rooms are saying the situation is far worse.

Queensland Daycare Could Be One of Many Closures if Morse Fails To Act

Discrimination Alleged with Governor General's Awards

Hugo Bonjean, Canadian bestselling author of In the Eyes of Anahita - an adventure in search of humanity, accuses The Canada Council of the Arts of discriminatory practice with regard to the selection process for the Governor General's Awards. Bonjean sent in a copy of his bestselling book for the awards and was told it did not qualify because he owned the publishing company.

While newspaper columns are the perfect genre for expressing one's personal views they are also very appropriate for expressing opposing rebuttals.

Hal JessoDuring Tuesday's edition of the Hotline, host Rick Howe promised to expose slumlords and bring them to their knees, by embarrassing these substandard property owners into cleaning up their act. Howe asked listeners to send him photos and other material to support any substandard housing claims. If substantiated by photo evidence, Howe plans to launch the great crusade against HRM slumlords by naming them on the public airwaves.

Canada to Appeal WTO Panel's Conclusions on Softwood Lumber

International Trade Minister Jim Peterson today confirmed that Canada would appeal a WTO panel finding that the U.S. is in compliance with its WTO obligations in the softwood lumber injury case. Minister Peterson also emphasized that the U.S. is still legally obliged to honour its NAFTA commitments.
