 Unless you help to save him, that is. Dalhousie University Professor Dr. Alan Pinder is closing down his clownfish breeding program and needs to find homes for hundreds of the fish along with the equipment used to house them.
When a staff reporter visited the breeding lab on Saturday, he was greeted by tired, yet determined Biology students, who are well on their way to achieving their goal of saving their charges from their date with death in January. |

Friday, November 18/05 - Mayor Peter Kelly, Regional Councillors, representatives of the federal and provincial governments, as well as public safety stakeholders and service providers, were on hand today for the official opening of HRM’s new Integrated Dispatch and Telecommunications Centre (IDTC.)
The new centre, located in the Eric Spicer Building in Woodside, marks a major advance in consolidating HRM’s Emergency and Non-Emergency Call Taking and Dispatch Services in one new state-of-the-art facility.

 Yesterday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Greater Toronto Area Drug Section arrested nine Ontario residents on drug-related charges as a result of a twenty-four month investigation spearheaded by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) with assistance from the RCMP and Canada Border Services Agency. Provisional arrest warrants are also being sought for four additional Canadian suspects.
The investigation, dubbed Operation Sweet Tooth by the DEA, focused on an alleged Ecstasy and marihuana trafficking and money laundering network operating between the United States, Canada and Vietnam. Operation Sweet Tooth resulted in the dismantling of two major drug transportation rings with international ties and 61 U.S. distribution groups.

WHITEHORSE, Nov. 18 - A palaeontological survey in the Old Crow Basin has unearthed the probable remains of a 125,000 year old beaver dam, the first ever fossilized artefact of its kind, announced Tourism and Culture Minister Elaine Taylor and Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation Chief Joe Linklater.
"The work, supported by land claims funding, was conducted on Vuntut Gwitchin settlement land and was part of a larger survey of ancient mammal fossils along the Porcupine and Old Crow Rivers," Taylor said.

Halifax, N.S. - Liberal Leader Francis MacKenzie has found yet another region where Tourism stats are inconsistent with that of the provincial government numbers.
In its 2005 Tourism Insights report, the government states that occupancy rates In Halifax accommodations and the number of room nights sold so far this season are down by 2 per cent.
Many hotel operators say those numbers don’t even come close to the real picture, and they say the provincial stats seldom do.
