Researchers in the United States have discovered that vaccinating mice with embryonic stem cells prevents lung cancer in previously cancer-infected mice. Researchers believe that it will be possible to produce cancer vaccines in humans from embryonic stem cells.

Alex J. Walling Our fine mayor, Peter Kelly, has a major problem and it deals with the Commonwealth Games.

It’s called finding a weakness in the opponent and the competing cities of Abuja, Nigeria and Glasgow, Scotland have found one in Halifax and I expect them to exploit it, big time.

Good sports teams especially when they play a strong competitor look for a weakness. Sometimes it only takes one and you exploit it.

NHL coaches study hours of tape on the opposition especially the opposing goalies trying to find a weakness.  Is a goalie’s weakness the five hole, short side, up high, etc?

U.S. President George W. Bush today announced that Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld is resigning. Just hours after the Democrats took control of the House of Representatives, pending House Leader Nancy Pelosi's first order of business involved the removal of Rumsfeld referring to him as "the civilian leadership at the Pentagon".

Britney Spears, Kevin Federline Divorcing Print E-mail

 After months of speculation by the American entertainment press on the status of Britney Spears' relationship with Kevin Federline it was announced yesterday that Spears has filed divorce papers against her husband using the generic 'irreconcilable differences' clause.

 Entertainment "rags" have been speculating for over a year about a possible split between the pop singer and Federline but the couple insisted that they were happy. The couple went on the have two children both boys, the youngest one being only 2 monhs old. They married in 2004 only three months after meeting. Spears' family insisted that Federline sign a pre-nuptial agreement.

Canada has all but abandoned peacekeeping according to "Marching Orders," a new report released by the Council of Canadians today. Launched at a press conference in Charlottetown, where the organization is holding its 21st annual general meeting, the report shows how the mission in Afghanistan has compromised Canada's role as a leader in peacekeeping.
