Halifax Live has learned that the popular talk radio program, The Hotline Show on 9.20 CJCH will remain on the air but with a new host as local celebrity Rick Howe prepares to announce his candidacy bid for mayor of the Halifax Regional Municipality. Howe is set to be the first serious contender for the top job.

In what at first glance appears to be an April fool’s joke, residence of Prince Edward Island woke up this morning to the news that The Guinness Book of Records had declared their province to be the largest uninhabited island in world. As part of their annual survey of strange and bizarre facts and records, the organization which once famously declared Saskatchewan to be the least interesting stretch of land on the planet, seems to have found a way to offend Canadians once again. |

The book at the centre of the current political firestorm in Canada has been leaked online, according to National Newswatch.
The book, 'Like a Rock' contains the allegation that representatives of the Tory party offered Chuck Cadman a 'bribe' to vote against the Paul Martin government and force an election.
The Tory Party denies the allegation.

A recent decision by the CRTC will have many AM 920 CJCH Hotline listeners asking a simple question. Will the Hotline, with host Rick Howe be cancelled? CTV, the new owner of AM 920 CJCH radio recently received approval to flip the oldies station to the FM band, at 101.3 MHz. Details contained in the CRTC's decision appear to indicate the Hotline will be cancelled or cut back, with the switch to FM. |

Here today, gone tomorrow. That just about wraps it up for the locally produced, 'Just Between Us,' chit chat show for the ladies, on AM 92/CJCH. The self-described 'high-energy, informative, entertaining hour featuring expert advice on health, relationships, money, and family,' was hosted by Christine Williams, Debbie Bodnarchuk and CJCH news reader, Deb Smith. Deb Smith joined the show when former host, Yvonne Colbert moved on to other projects. |

Halifax Live Exclusive
A group has formed in Halifax with specific political goals, oust Mayor Peter Kelly, HRM council and replace them with a mayor and council that share their views. The Citizens for Halifax Society describes itself as a non partisan society on a mission to build a city with a vision of its place in the world.
Thus far, names connected with the society include some of Halifax's movers and shakers, such as Don Mills, Fred MacGillivray and Victor Syperek. Halifax Live has discovered other names, such as John Lindsay Jr. and Giles Oland, connected with a server IP address. Read on for more.....

So the editors over at the Halifax Daily News are just a bit peeved that Nova Scotians aren't rioting in the streets and demanding that every last politician even remotely connected with the mentorship program be publicly tarred and feathered.
The editorial staff simply cannot understand our apparent apathy over the scandal left in the wake of the provincially sponsored immigrant mentorship program and according to today's editorial in the Daily News there can be only two reasons why we seen to be so uncaring - Nova Scotians are either stupid or we're a bunch of bigots. |

Celine Dion can snub Halifax if she wants, but that's not going to stop Halifax from honouring the diva with a special path of her own. Sources tell Halifax Live that a motion will be brought to Halifax council next month to name a path on the Halifax Common after Celine Dion. |

When they get excited in Moncton, they get a Woody. It looks like Halifax has lost a well known symbol to the Hub City. You could almost say he's branching out. Christmas crowd favourite Woody, the talking Christmas Tree, is moving to Moncton, according to sources close to the vine. |

The rumour mill is churning today with chatter that has the national wing of the Conservative Party of Canada replacing the entire executive of Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley Conservative Association, after voting in favour of keeping former Conservative MP Bill Casey as their representative in the next federal election. |
