NDP Leader Jack Layton today predicted that Liberals in Toronto will attempt “to paint Stephen Harper and the Conservatives as the big bad wolf. It’s all a fairy tale.”
Introducing the “Team Toronto” NDP candidates, Layton pointed out that Conservatives in Toronto finished an average of almost 15,000 votes behind, and that a federal Conservative has not been elected from Toronto in 17 years. |

Prime Minister Paul Martin today announced a comprehensive plan to strengthen Canada’s food production sector, which will review the Agriculture Policy Framework based on the “Easter Report,” provide funding for export market development and extend green-cover incentives.
“Farming and fishing families are the ones who put food on our tables, a vital part of our economy, and the backbone of Canada’s rural communities,” the Prime Minister said. “The measures announced today will assist in the evolution of the industry to ensure that Canada’s food production industries continue to thrive.” |

The Competition Bureau has filed two consent agreements against Canadian spammers of a bogus product called Fuel Saver Pro, which claims to increase fuel efficiency andreduce emissions.
Acting on information obtained under the "Button Pusher Spam Sweep" from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Bureau commenced an inquiry into the marketing practices of several individuals involved in the sale and promotion of the Fuel Saver Pro, which sold for $89.99 (U.S.). |

Shaw formerly hosted this extremist Canadian website. |

Harper promises a Conservative government will provide Quebecers with results and not just promises that can never be kept. Among other things, Harper referred to open federalism, the economy, families, and a concrete plan to clean up Ottawa. |

Liberal Health Critic, Dave Wilson, is pleased government has finally announced some of the details surrounding the Liberal Private Member's Bill No 179, the Self-managed Support-care Act.
The Liberal bill expanded on the pilot program already in place by allowing people with disabilities throughout the province to hire their own attendants with money received directly from Home Care. An independent evaluation of the original pilot program showed a reduction of the cost of care by 29%, fewer visits to emergency rooms and less time spent by participants in acute care facilities. |
