GLASGOW'S COMMONWEALTH GAMES BID THREATENED Print E-mail

Glasgow's bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games is quickly going up in smoke after Scotland's senior national basketball teams indicated they are prepared to vote against Glasgow's bid, and support Halifax instead.

The news comes as we learn Scotland's senior national basketball teams are on the brink of financial crisis due to sportscotland cutting financial support. The cut in funding is directly related to basketball not being included in Glasgow 2014's Commonwealth Games plans.

ENTIRE HALIFAX SCHOOL BOARD FIRED Print E-mail

The province has had enough, and has fired the entire Halifax Regional School Board. The dysfunctional board has been in the news for more than a year for its inability to function properly.

Some elected members are said to be furious over the decision.

Canadians Flying to The United States Will Require Valid Passports in 2007 Print E-mail

Canada's airports are advising U.S.-bound travellers that a new passport requirement for U.S. travel by air will come into effect this January. Starting this January 8th, all passengers to the U.S. will require a valid passport or a NEXUS Air card.

KFC Logo in Area 51Kentucky Fried Chicken, better known as KFC, working on the assumption that extraterrestrials get hungry too, has announced the launch of the Colonel Sanders logo that is large enough to be seen from space. Taking no chances that the logo might be missed, the world's largest advertisement is situated right in the middle of the infamous Area 51, specifically in The World's Only Extraterrestrial Highway otherwise known as the UFO Capital of the World.

U.S. President George W. Bush today announced that Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld is resigning. Just hours after the Democrats took control of the House of Representatives, pending House Leader Nancy Pelosi's first order of business involved the removal of Rumsfeld referring to him as "the civilian leadership at the Pentagon".

Britney Spears, Kevin Federline Divorcing Print E-mail

 After months of speculation by the American entertainment press on the status of Britney Spears' relationship with Kevin Federline it was announced yesterday that Spears has filed divorce papers against her husband using the generic 'irreconcilable differences' clause.

 Entertainment "rags" have been speculating for over a year about a possible split between the pop singer and Federline but the couple insisted that they were happy. The couple went on the have two children both boys, the youngest one being only 2 monhs old. They married in 2004 only three months after meeting. Spears' family insisted that Federline sign a pre-nuptial agreement.

The family of 28 year-old Petty Officer 1st Class Damon Crooks who was murdered outside a bar in downtown Halifax early Sunday morning have established a condolence guest book for those who would like to leave their thoughts and sympathies for Petty Officer Crooks'  family and friends.
