Halifax Live Exclusive

A group has formed in Halifax with specific political goals, oust Mayor Peter Kelly, HRM council and replace them with a mayor and council that share their views. The Citizens for Halifax Society describes itself as a non partisan society on a mission to build a city with a vision of its place in the world.

Thus far, names connected with the society include some of Halifax's movers and shakers, such as Don Mills, Fred MacGillivray and Victor Syperek. Halifax Live has discovered other names, such as John Lindsay Jr. and Giles Oland, connected with a server IP address. Read on for more.....

For background info on the group, media reports can be found HereHere, and Here.

The Connections

The group currently has a blog, here , but no other working website. However, Halifax Live as found at least 3 domain names that appear to be registered for the group. They include:

CitizensForHalifax.org
CitizensForHalifax.com
CitizensForHalifax.ca

Although these domains are currently inactive, ONE doman, maybe mistakenly, points to a IP address, that IP address reveals some interesting information.

The domain names are registered to Malcolm Fraser, with a company called, isl.ca, a web marketing and development company with offices located at 1108 - 1809 Barrington Street. They boast the following client list:

Greater Halifax Partnership
Trade Centre Limited
Corporate Research Associates
Nova Scotia Business Inc.
Trade Team Nova Scotia
Atlantic Institute for Market Studies
Nova Scotia Tourism
Point Pleasant Park
Stewart McKelvey

Their full list of clients can be found here.

Some of the more interesting information is revealed when the IP address connected to  CitizensForHalifax.org is traced using tech tools.

A traceroute shows the IP is routed through landlordit.com, a local company formed when,  LandlordIT Inc owned by John Lindsay Jr., Halifax Wireless Inc. owned by Giles Oland and the former Keating-owned Airfire Telecom were combined into a new company - Airfire Telephone & Data Inc. See their website here . See screenshot of trace above.

Other traceroute information shows that several official HRM websites as well as NS Government related websites also flow through J.W. Lindsay's and Giles Oland's company, Airfire.ca, they include:

eventshalifax.com
halifaxmetrocenter.com
exhibitionpark.com
tradecentrelimited.com
novascotiabusiness.com

It should be noted that this information does not mean J.W. Lindsay, Giles Oland, and their company Airfire.ca are a part of, or have any official connection with, the Citizens For Halifax group.
