Halifax Live has learned exclusively that former N.S. premier Rodney MacDonald will be appointed director of communications to Prime Minister Stephen Harper sometime within the next two weeks. A source close to the MacDonald family tells HL on the condition of anonymity that the former premier and professional fiddler was contacted by the PMO two weeks ago concerning a 'potential opening'.
Calls to the family home in Mabou went unanswered Wednesday evening.
Rumoured to be on the Prime Minister's shortlist for a senate appointment in 2009, MacDonald has maintained high-level contacts in Ottawa since his minority government was defeated by the NDP last year. |
