Nova Scotia Long Care Term Report Long Overdue Print E-mail
Written by NS Liberal Party

Liberal Health Critic, Dave Wilson, is once again urging the Minister of Health to release and act on the recommendations contained in the Continuing Care Compensation Review final report.

This report was presented to the Minister of Health on December 23, 2004. Employees of the Continuing Care Sector were informed in the spring of 2005 that the minister had accepted all of the recommendations, yet the report has not been released.
"The continuing care sector is having challenges recruiting and retaining administrators and directors because this minister continues to stall," said Wilson. "It's time for this government to tell this vital sector how they plan to address the recruitment and retention challenges."

On November 3, 2005 in the House of Assembly, Wilson questioned Minister MacIsaac about plans to release the report. The minister indicated the report was before the Treasury and Policy Board and would be going to Cabinet in the very near future.

"There have been four cabinet meetings since we sat in the legislature," added Wilson. "What is the problem; when will this report finally be released?"
