Health Canada Issues warning on Euro ASA 80 mg Chewable Tablets |

Health Canada is warning consumers that two lots of Euro-ASA 80 mg orange flavoured, chewable tablets (Euro-ASA Chewable Tablet) lack child-resistant packaging, even though the label indicates the bottles are child resistant.
The orange-flavoured, chewable tablets may encourage children to ingest large quantities. Each bottle contains enough drug to seriously harm a child.
A recall has been initiated by Euro-Pharm International Canada Inc. The Drug Identification Number (DIN) for this product is 02250675. The affected lot numbers for this product are:
- ASA402, expiry date 2006-05,
- ASA501R, expiry date 2006-08.
These are the only lots distributed to date.
The product is distributed by Euro-Pharm International Canada Inc., 9400 boul. Langelier, Montreal, Quebec, and is packaged in bottles containing 500 tablets. Approximately 5,700 bottles were distributed to wholesalers and pharmacies in Quebec.
Consumers should return these products to the place of purchase. Please contact your pharmacist should further clarification be required.
To date, Health Canada has not received any reports of harm with respect to the lack of child-resistant packaging. |
