Sidney Crosby Signs NHL Trading Card Sponsorship Deal Print E-mail

PRNewsFoto/The Upper Deck CompanyThe Upper Deck Company, a leading sports and memorabilia company announced today the exclusive signing of phenom Sidney Crosby, one of the most highly-touted young talents in hockey history, to his first National Hockey League trading card sponsorship deal.  The first pick in this year's NHL Entry draft, Crosby has agreed to an exclusive multi-year NHL sports trading card agreement with Upper Deck which includes autographs, premiums, packaging and promotional rights.

"I am excited to be part of another great team," said Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins Forward.  "Upper Deck is well-known for being the leader in the collectibles industry, and I know that this is going to be a great relationship.  I am excited and proud of my Upper Deck NHL rookie card in Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey."
Other Upper Deck Spokesman include: Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Derek Jeter, Ken Griffey Jr., Dwight Howard, Marvin Williams, and Chris Paul, to name a few.

"Upper Deck has always been recognized for producing the most collectible and innovative trading cards in the world," said Chairman and Founder Richard McWilliam.  "It is fitting that Sidney Crosby and Upper Deck join forces in an exclusive relationship.  He is a tremendous talent, a fitting face for the new NHL and for Upper Deck Hockey trading card products."

Crosby's arrival to the NHL has been eagerly anticipated for several years as the accolades for his play have grown. Crosby was named the 2004 Canadian Hockey League's Player of the Year while winning his second consecutive CHL scoring title. In the first few games of his inaugural season in the NHL, Crosby has certainly lived up to his billing and continues to amaze teammates and fans with his on-ice vision, puck skills and ability to handle the pressure of key game situations.

Sidney made his Upper Deck card set debut in 2005-06 Upper Deck Series 1 (SRP $2.99 per pack). 2005-06 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey highlights this season's heralded rookie class, amazing veterans and legends, and is available now nationwide.
