Former Liberal MP Pat O'Brien is in Saint John NB today where he will announce at a 11 AM press conference the appointment of former Conservative MP Elsie Wayne to the position of Atlantic Chair of the anti-gay-marriage group, Vote Marriage Canada.
On November 22nd 2005, Mr. O'Brien formed an alliance with former M.P. and Leader of the Opposition the Hon. Grant Hill by launching a campaign calling on Parliament to restore the definition of marriage in Canadian law as the union of one man and one woman.
'Vote Marriage Canada' warns that the future of Canada "depends in large measure on protecting and preserving traditional marriage." They believe that same-sex marriage will "undermine" Canadian families. Vote Marriage Canada currently operates as a third party under section 353 of the Canada Elections Act.
Elsie Wayne will join forces with Pat O'Brien to ask Canadians to support and to vote for candidates in this federal election who will support and promote marriage as the legal union of one man and one woman in Parliament. They believe marriage so understood is the foundation of families and Canadian society. “It's time for Parliament and the Government of Canada to support and to promote marriage as the legal union of one man and one woman, the foundation of families and Canadian society. It's time to vote for marriage ,” Mr. O'Brien said. |
