Halifax No Way reports that Glasgow's Commonwealth Games committee plans to stun Halifax and take the Commonwealth Games Federation by surprise by including the sport of golf in their bid for the 2014 Games.
A source close to the Glasgow bid said: "The First Minister has asked us to come up with novel ways of making this bid as interesting and exciting as possible. "One of the things we are considering is including golf for the games in 2014". Bid organizers believe it would give Glasgow 2014 a distinctive Scottish flavour and could help the city beat our rivals, Halifax in Canada and the Nigerian capital, Abuja. The tournament would be a team event, with professionals allowed to enter, according to a Halifax No Way report. More from Halifax No way |
