Fisher-Price Inc, in cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is voluntarily recalling all Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Musical Learning Chair products worldwide. In Canada, this represents approximately 25,800 Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Musical Learning Chair English and 5,700 Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Musical Learning Chair French.
The reason for the recall is that a child might become lodged between the seatback and side table features of the chair, possibly leading to entrapment of the neck. This can pose a strangulation hazard to young children. Fisher- Price has received three reports of incidents, including one report of a slight welt on the neck of child. There has never been a report of serious injury or medical treatment associated with the product.
The recalled Laugh & Learn Musical Learning Chair is designed for children ages 12 months through 36 months of age. The model number is H4609 English and H7168 French which can be found on the underside of the chair seat. Mass merchants and toy stores across Canada sold the Laugh & Learn Musical Learning Chairs from May 2005 through January 2006 for approximately $40. Consumers who purchased this product should stop using it immediately and contact Fisher-Price toll-free at 1-866-552-3914 or www.service.fisher-price.com to order the free repair kit that will contain a plastic piece that snaps in between the seatback and side table, preventing the possibility of entrapment. Instructions will be provided so the repair can be done quickly and easily at home. |
