NS Liberal Leader Asks Why Economic Development is Giving Loans Print E-mail

Nova Scotia Liberal Leader Francis MacKenzie is wondering why the Office of Economic Development is the lender of an $850,000 loan to IMP Aerospace. Back In 2003 Nova Scotia Business Inc gave the same company a loan for $3,000,000.

"Which office is handing this file, and where is the protocol for business loans?" asks MacKenzie. NSBI was created to boost companies of industry. It appears the government has no real focus in this area," said MacKenzie.

MacKenzie is in favor of economic development in rural Nova Scotia, and is in support of IMP Aerospace and its initiatives to expand. "But there has to be more transparency as to what NSBI is actually doing to promote rural Nova Scotia, as an option for businesses," he added.
