NDP Health Critic Asking Minister MacIsaac to Intervene in QEII MD Conduct Case Print E-mail
Written by NDP News Release
Tuesday, 31 January 2006
After more than three years and growing legal fees, NDP Health Critic Dave Wilson has written Health Minister Angus MacIsaac, asking him to intervene and expedite the process that is stalling the medical, research, and teaching career of Dr. Gabrielle Horne.

"Dr. Horne's professional life is being held at the mercy of the internal committee structure at Capital Health, even after she was exonerated by an external peer review," said Wilson. "Minister MacIsaac can encourage Capital Health to do the
right thing, to listen to the external panel."

After more than three  years before internal committees, conduct allegations against Dr. Gabrielle Horne were reviewed by an independent peer review panel, which submitted its final report in December 2005. In its report, the panel found no documentation supporting allegations against Dr. Horne.

"Capital Health has ignored the findings of this panel and is determined to continue on its own path, however baseless it may be. This is an incredibly poor use of public money when our health care system needs every dollar it has."
