On-Line Support Inc. Expands in Rural Nova Scotia |

Antigonish is now home to hundreds of new professional opportunities, as a 400-person customer care contact centre opens in the town. On-Line Support Incorporated (OLS), a company with a long history in the province, is expanding its Nova Scotia operations.
On-Line Support's new centre in Antigonish is part of the company’s strategic long-term business model to increase its presence in rural communities. Expected to create up to 400 jobs over four years, the centre is opening through a payroll rebate agreement established with Nova Scotia Business Inc (NSBI).
The opening of the new centre was announced today, Feb. 06, by Health Minister Angus MacIsaac, on behalf of Economic Development Minister Ernest Fage; Ross Beattie, president and CEO of OLS; and Stephen Lund, president and CEO of NSBI.
The announcement will have a significant impact on the people of Antigonish, where St. Francis Xavier University boasts a skilled student population.

"The announcement pumps extra money into the economy and the career opportunities give current residents more options for staying in Antigonish."
The payroll rebate is given annually over a four-year period up to a maximum of $2.14 million. With the creation of up to 400 jobs, the OLS centre has the potential to add $36 million o the Antigonish economy.
"Nova Scotia's workforce is talented and hard-working," said Mr. Beattie. "The business opportunities here are too good to pass up. We wish to work in concert with the local community and educational institutions to facilitate access and availability within the strong workforce in the area."
Antigonish was strategically targeted by NSBI as an ideal fit for the company.
"The arrival of OLS in Antigonish will provide new opportunities for employment and skills development for hundreds of people in this community." said Mr. Lund. "This is an investment in a strong local workforce and a Maritime-based company that will bring significant benefits to the region."
OLS was created in 1993 and has grown since its inception. In addition to the new site in Antigonish, OLS has sites in Dartmouth and Kentville, N.S., Charlottetown and Montague, P.E.I., and Pembroke, Ont. The company is headquartered in Charlottetown. Its growth strategy is to focus on smaller communities for expansion and grow a valued and reliable workforce in such regions. |
