Ernie Fage Resigns Print E-mail
Written by Office of The Premier
Thursday, 16 February 2006
Premier John Hamm today, Feb. 16, accepted the resignation of Ernest Fage, Minister of Economic Development.

Mr. Fage submitted his resignation over the government loan to S & J Potato Farms, which leases land owned by the Fage family.

"On reflection this week, I now believe that I violated the Ministerial Code of Conduct by being in a conflict of interest," said Mr. Fage. "I realize now that I have made a mistake, I accept full responsibility for that, and I apologize to Nova Scotians and my colleagues in the legislature."

"Mr. Fage is an honourable man and a capable member of the legislature," said Premier Hamm. "There was no intent for personal gain and no realization of personal gain in his ministerial role. However, he made a mistake and I accept his resignation."

Mr. Fage has also resigned his responsibilities as Minister responsible for Nova Scotia Business Inc., Minister responsible for the Innovation Corporation Act, Minister of Communications Nova Scotia, Minister responsible for the Emergency Management Act, Minister responsible for the Liquor Control Act, and Minister responsible for the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation.
