Canadian Tire Recalls Motomaster HotWash Windshield Washer Heater |

Canadian Tire announced today it is voluntarily recalling the Motomaster HotWash Windshield Washer Fluid Heater (Canadian Tire product number 21-0020-2) due to a manufacturing defect that poses a potential safety issue. It has been determined that a relay mechanism in a small number of these units is defective causing the potential for the relay to stick and overheat.
Customers can identify defective units by referring to the outer casing of the product. If the product contains the words 'patent pending' they are not defective and are therefore not included in this recall. Units that do not contain the 'patent pending' reference may be defective and customers should call 1-866-670-9962 to determine if their unit is included in the recall.
While Canadian Tire has not been notified of any instance of injury caused by this potential defect, the Company has received eleven reports of an incident occurring in which the product started smoking. Customers are requested to immediately discontinue use of this product and call 1-866-670-9962 to determine if their Washer Fluid Heather unit is included in the recall in order to get a free replacement unit. Customers wishing to return the product for an exchange or refund can do so at their nearest Canadian Tire store.
