Governments of Canada and New Brunswick committed to $400-million highway investment |

Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Premier Bernard Lord today announced a $400-million investment in New Brunswick's National Highway System.
The prime minister praised Premier Lord, calling him "a strong advocate for his province," and gave the Premier full marks for his contribution to making this investment a reality, citing his ability to work with both the federal government and the other provincial premiers.
"I am delighted to be here with the prime minister to deliver on a commitment we made just a few months ago," Lord said. "This investment is another example of the co-operation and partnership that exist between New Brunswick and the federal government."
Harper and Lord committed to $400 million in highway construction and rehabilitation projects on the province's national highway system. The 10-year commitment will be cost-shared on a 50-50 basis between both levels of government.
Lord's 'prosperity plan' for New Brunswick, also called the 'five-in-five' plan includes five objectives to be accomplished over the next five years in which to strengthen the province:
1.) New Brunswick to be known as Canada 's smart province.
2.) For New Brunswick to be known as Canada 's investment province.
3.) For New Brunswick to be known as Canada 's wellness province.
4.) For New Brunswick to be known as Canada 's clean province.
5.) For New Brunswick to be known as Canada 's inclusive province. |
