'Canada The Novel' is a fast paced story about a sophisticated American land and resource grab, led by President George Branch, taking advantage of unrest in the provinces in particular Quebec, to create a United States of North America, as the heroes of the novel, The Premiers of Newfoundland And Labrador and British Columbia, secretly travel the continent and Europe trying to develop an alternative plan to save The Federation!
'Canada The Novel', written in what some critics have called, the Dan Brown, Da Vinci Code style, this highly touted and much praised work, has made the rounds of many of the major publishing houses and some of the best Literary agents in Canada. The reviews have been great, "A page turner, excellent," said one. "An adventurous read, will certainly make the best sellers list" said another.
"But they also said it was too Canadian and it will never sell outside of Canada and it was not literary enough for Canadian readers," said Montreal born, author and entrepreneur Frank Dwyer 56, who now lives in Toronto. "I think the undercurrent feeling was that it wasn't the great Canadian novel, just a darn good read. And a good read doesn't seem good enough for the Canadian publishing establishment."
Dwyer decided to turn to the Internet as his publisher and offer his work for free. "Actually it was my youngest son's idea," said Dwyer. "He told me that is where the curious and informed readers hang out. Once the idea of being able to offer the book to readers worldwide sank in, it was irresistible! In life, sometimes when you give, you get back unexpectedly. And, maybe this book will contribute to the debate of how to make our democracies work better," Dwyer concluded.
