I have a question for U.S. President George W. Bush, his shi-tzu British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and his new best friend Canadian Prime Minister Stephen "The Shrub" Harper - WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? Do you not see what is going on in the middle east at the moment? I swear, if I was related to any one of you I'd have smucked you upside the head a long time ago for your stance on the annihilation of the Lebanese people by the Israeli military . Then I would have disowned you. After that I would have campaigned vigorously against you in the next federal elections.
Mr. Bush, apparently you believe that Israel's war against Hezbollah is a necessary part of your maniacal quest to be personally responsible for the spread of democracy far and wide including the entire middle east. Have you been talking to God again? Because you know what happened the last time she spoke to you and I don't see Iraq embracing a democracy any time soon. So I can only assume that you sanction the murder of 900 and counting innocent Lebanese civilians because if you were really concerned about their welfare you probably would have postponed your vacation in Crawford. Instead there you are, hunkered down in your compound doing your best to avoid face-to-face contact with that perpetual thorn in your side, Cindy Sheehan.
Mr. Blair, what can I say? I hate to break it to you but you're known in these parts as Bush's little lapdog, the obvious breed being the shi-tzu just because it sounds so naughty to say. Now I imagine you are a really nice guy who cares for his constituents and serves his country with pride and resolve. But you have a weak spot and his name is George W. Bush. I'm convinced that the British people would stop in their tracks and stand perfectly still with mouths agape if you ever made a decision on your own without asking permission from the American president beforehand. Because of your inability to think for yourself I will assume that you too sanction the killings of innocent Lebanese children.
And finally Mr. Harper. You sir have managed in one sentence to rip my country from its long-standing proud and respected position of neutrality and peacekeeping and morph us into a clone of the United States. You have mandated Canadian troops into the Bush War in Afghanistan and if you had been prime minister in 2002, Canada would have gone to war in Iraq. And now you again have sided with Mr. Bush on his stance regarding the Israel-Hezbollah war, that is you agreed that Israel's initial attacks on Hezbollah were a "measured response" to obvious provocation. You went on to say that Israel has the right to defend itself. Against what Mr. Harper? The kidnapping of two soldiers. Three weeks of warfare seems a tad excessive, don't you think?
So to all three of you, just in case you haven't been paying attention this is what you and your administrations are continuing to sanction so pay close attention:
- Over 900 Lebanese civilians have been killed so far and many more are going to be killed by Israeli missiles in the coming days and weeks;
- More than 3000 Lebanese civilians have been wounded by Israeli missiles, many injuries involve loss of limbs and other catastrophic injuries;
- 1,000,000, that's 1 million Lebanese civilians are now homeless and displaced because Israeli forces have annihilated their homes and even entire towns. 1 million innocent civilians managed to escape death with only the clothes on their backs in way too many cases;
- Of those 900 and counting dead Lebanese civilians, one third are children and babies. ONE THIRD. Children and babies. Blown to pieces;
- International relief workers are either unable to bring emergency supplies to the Lebanese people or they enter the country cautiously and constantly under threat of being themselves victims of an Israeli precision missile. Roads and bridges have been destroyed by those same missiles making it even more difficult for relief workers to enter the affected areas;
- The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued warnings that Lebanon's hospitals and medical facilities will "cease to function" very soon because of fuel shortages in the country caused by...you guessed it - Israeli missiles;
- And just when you think it couldn't possibly get any more dire, environmental experts are watching a massive oil spill spreading over the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea caused by Israeli missiles targeting a Lebanese power station. The slick at the time of this writing was estimated to be 75 miles (120km) wide and it continues to spread toward the coastlines of Turkey and Cyprus. Authorities say that the region affected by this spill will take at least 10 years to recover if recovery is possible at all.
Knowing all this, the Israeli cabinet earlier today approved an escalation to the war which will see another 30,000 troops deployed to southern Lebanon as they push deeper into that country searching for Hezbollah rocket launchers, firing precision missiles and killing more civilians along the way. Missiles by the way, which were rushed to Israel from the United States.
Mr. Bush how do you sleep at night? How about you, Mr. Harper and you, Mr. Blair? Are your slumbers deep and restful and free of nightmares? You realize don't you that the three of you could have stopped this at the very beginning and in so doing, saved the lives of 900 people. Mr. Bush, you as President of the United States are known as the leader of the free world. You have personally claimed the title of "war president". You have appointed yourself as the global benefactor of democracy. Mr. Harper and Mr. Blair have avidly nodded their approval of your lofty goals.
So what the hell happened? Why didn't You Three demand a ceasefire immediately? Shall I tell you why? Israel was willing to do your dirty work and rid the world of Hezbollah, those dirty terrorists. And if a few Lebanese babies lost their lives well, war is hell, right?
You Three along with the state of Israel had declared quite some time ago that Hezbollah is a terrorist faction. Funny how so many people are throwing their moral support behind that very "terrorist" group as Israel continues to kill and destroy while the U.S., the UK and Canada back them up.
Funny how many are now openly wondering just who the real terrorists are.
And finally a quick note to Mrs. Bush, Mrs. Harper and Mrs. Blair - do us all a favour and slap some sense into your husbands before more babies die!
