**BREAKING**
The American-based ABC News network is reporting that five of the suspected London terrorists remain at large and are being "urgently hunted". Other news sources are saying as many as ten are being sought.
Twenty-four people have now been taken into custody and are being currently interrogated by law enforcement personnel. ABC News is also reporting that of the 24 arrested, 22 are believed to be "of Pakistani descent", one is Bangladeshi and one is Iranian. Police authorities say that the plan by the alleged terrorists was to blow up at least nine airplanes in mid-flight between the UK and the U.S. The explosives was to be in liquid form, would have been concealed inside modified sports drink containers. The explosives, said ABC special correspondent Brian Ross, would have been set off "with the flash from a disposable camera". Other reports suggest that iPods and cell phones would be used as detonators.
London-based Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Paul Stephenson said the alleged terrorists intended the explosions to be "mass murder on an unimaginable scale". |
