Canadian Hurricane Centre Issues Severe Weather Bulletin for Newfoundland Print E-mail

The Canadian Hurricane Centre has issued a severe weather bulletin for parts of Newfoundland as tropical storm Florence approaches the Atlantic region. Florence is expected to transform into an intense post-tropical storm but with tropical characteristics as it moves toward the Avalon Penninsula.

Sustained storm force winds of 40 knots (70 km/h) with gusts up to 120 km/h along with a possible heavy rainfall of 75 to 125 millimetres is predicted on Wednesday for the following regions:

Channel - Port Aux Basques - Burgeo
Ramea - Connaigre
Burin Penninsula
Avalon Penninsula
St. John's & vicinity
Clarenville & vicinty
Bonavista Penninsula
