The Medcan Clinic, a Toronto-based health management company has announced that the clinic has formed a partnership with world renowned Johns Hopkins International as part of Medcan's continuing effort to provide Canadians access to the best in health management services.
Canadians have been travelling to the United States for years in their quest for excellence in health care as well as specialized services unavailable in Canada. Excessively long waiting periods for medical care continues to be a factor in seeking health care in the U.S. For Canadians wishing to seek care at the Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins, Medcan will act as a gateway between Canadians and Johns Hopkins by handling referrals, appointments and all necessary support required. The privately-funded service will be available to all Canadians. A Medcan spokesperson stated that this partnership will pave the way for more "collaborative medical services" in the growing Canadian market for private health care facilities.
Established in 1987 The Medcan Clinic provides several highly specialized services to a current patient base of 20,000 Canadians. As well as a four-hour Comprehensive Health Assessment the clinic provides nutritional counselling, a prostate clinic, eye exams, genetic screening and enhanced cardiovascular screening. Johns Hopkins International works with international patients, physicians and institutions to bring the best of Johns Hopkins Medicine in research, education, training and clinical services to the world community. In 2006, US News & World Report ranked Johns Hopkins Hospital as America's "Best Hospital" for the 16th consecutive year. |
