Britney Spears, Kevin Federline Divorcing Print E-mail

After months of speculation by the American entertainment press on the status of Britney Spears' relationship with Kevin Federline it was announced yesterday that Spears has filed divorce papers against her husband using the generic 'irreconcilable differences' clause.

Entertainment "rags" have been speculating for over a year about a possible split between the pop singer and Federline but the couple insisted that they were happy. The couple went on the have two children both boys, the youngest one being only 2 monhs old. They married in 2004 only three months after meeting. Spears' family insisted that Federline sign a pre-nuptial agreement. In 2005 Spears and Federline produced and starred in a short-lived reality TV program titled 'Britney & Kevin:Chaotic'.

This was Spears' second marriage. In 2004 she married a childhood sweetheart in a wedding chapel in Las Vegas. Fifty-five hours later the marriage was annulled.

As part of the divorce proceedings, Spears is seeking sole custody of the couple's children and will not be asking for spousal support. Rumours suggest that the couple split after 'a string of events' perhaps culminating when Federline made an appearance on the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment), which was mocked by Spears.
