The North End Diner, a Halifax Landmark, is currently burning . The fire started shortly after 2 pm and appears to still be going strongly at 3 pm. Halifax Firefighters have cordoned off the area, dispersing a large crowd that had assembled earlier. Traffic delays will be expected as large areas including Almon St. , Bloomfield St and  Gottingen Street have been blocked off. More to follow.

Update 4pm North End Halifax's favourite Breakfast place is no more. As the following pictures show, the building can no longer be salvaged. Traffic has ground top a standstill in the area. 

Update 5:50pm: the fire is under control.Mop-up operations continue.
