Rick HowePeople shouldn't pee in the pool and complain later when they swallow a mouthful of yellow water. But that's exactly what Rick Howe has been doing for the past couple of weeks. It's not new.

Rick Howe is the host of the Hotline on AM 920 CJCH radio. It's a talk radio show - he mostly talks.

You may be asking yourself what exactly is Mr. Howe being hypocritical about now? The answer this time is the lack of a major outdoor summer concert bash on the Halifax Commons.

Last year Howe led the public outcry AGAINST holding a major concert on the Halifax Commons; this year he is bemoaning the fact that the Halifax Commons will not be a venue for a major outdoor concert.

Give us a break! You can't have your cake and eat it too, Mr. Howe.

Last year, Howe used what can be best described as fear mongering tactics in a direct assault against making use of the Halifax Commons as a venue for the Rolling Stones concert. He suggested that holding a concert on the Halifax Commons could result in damages in excess of $1-million to our beloved, grass and weed covered Commons.

He asked why the Rolling Stones concert couldn't be held at Shearwater, or at Exhibition Park. He was given the answers. Shearwater was no longer available for hosting public events and Exhibition Park, as he was told, was too small. It became obvious that Howe didn't like those answers because he continued to ask why Shearwater or Exhibition Park couldn't be utilized to hold the concert. He asked the same questions day after day after agonizing day. He knew the answers.

Howe complained about Rolling Stones ticket prices, he complained about the cost of a beer, he complained about the cost of a hotdog, the cost of fries, the cost of a bottle of water and it goes on ad nauseum. It was a daily orgy of bash, bash, bash, the Rolling Stones concert. At times it became a bash the promoter orgy.

Does Howe really believe the promoter, Donald Tarlton, AKA,  'Donald K Donald' didn't tell his concert promoter colleagues to stay away from Halifax? Why wouldn't he? I know I would.

That's the real reason Halifax will not be holding a major outdoor concert event this summer. Halifax eats its own.

Moncton took advantage of Halifax's hostile media and has become the premier outdoor concert venue for Atlantic Canada. A couple of weeks ago, it was announced that Faith Hill and Tim MacGraw would not be playing the Halifax Commons. But if you want to see the mega-star pair in concert, you can catch them at Moncton's Magnetic Hill during the Labour Day weekend.

As usual, Howe complained and he hasn't stopped complaining since the announcement.

You got exactly what you wanted Mr. Howe, now live with it.

NOTE TO AMBER - Bashing Howe will be a regular feature of Halifax Live over the coming weeks ;-)
