Mere hours after I published my article titled 'Two Eurofighter Typhoon Jets Over Dartmouth Last Saturday - Why?' an angry Peter Spurway responded via email. I will admit that I did not contact Mr. Spurway while writing this particular column but instead relied upon quotes attributed to the airport authority spokesman and published by our region's daily newspapers. I doubted that he would take me into his confidence while spurning the Chronicle-Herald.
Not only does Mr. Spurway admonish me for "misrepresenting" what he said, he stoops to puzzling juvenile behaviour by attacking my witnesses! Witnesses I might add who are also hard-working taxpayers of this municipality. For shame Mr. Spurway.
But I'll let you, the readers be the judge. Without further ado, I submit to you an email from Peter Spurway, Vice President, Corporate Communications & Public Affairs for Halifax Stanfield International Airport: Hey, here's an idea, D. L. McCracken. Instead of assuming, and surmising, and presuming, why don't you call me up and ask me directly about this situation, like every other media outlet did? You have completely misrepresented what I said about this situation. You have ascribed a tone and motivation to my comments that is completely without basis. Hardly a single paragraph in this story resembles what happened and what was said about what happened. (By the way, anyone who can't tell the difference between a military VC-10 and a 747 is hardly a credible witness.) Happy skywatching. Peter Spurway Comments? Email D.L. McCracken here |
