Federal Liberal party leader Stephane Dion says his decision not to challenge Green party leader Elizabeth May with a Liberal candidate in the riding of Central Nova during the next federal election puts 'progress ahead of partisanship.' Dion said last week that Canada would be much better off with Elizabeth May as members of Parliament. There's one way to prove you mean what you say Mr. Dion
Traditionally, federal party leaders can participate in nationally televised debates only if their party holds a seat in Canada's Parliament. That 'gentlemen's agreement' will result in Elizabeth May being barred from what some people say is the single most important event(s) in a federal election.
With the NDP leading the charge against May's participation in the national televised debates, Stephane Dion has one ace up his sleeve to ensure May has a place at the table.
It doesn't matter how Dion pulls it off, draw straws, names in a hat, or call it an executive decision, but if Canada needs Elizabeth May as Dion says, he has to find a way to entice or force, one of his sitting members to join the Green party of Canada.
That shouldn't be too difficult a task when you consider the number of sitting Liberal members that have announced that they will not be reoffering in the next federal election.
Maybe Belinda Stronach is up to the Green challenge?Show us the Green Mr. Dion, show us the Green. Afterall, the most urgent issue facing our society and our government, indeed humanity as a whole, is at stake >>>> |
