Province Handing Out Free Fluorescent Light Bulbs Print E-mail

It only takes one Nova Scotian to change a light bulb, and Conserve Nova Scotia is giving households two compact fluorescent light bulbs to get them started.

Under the second phase of the It Starts With Me energy efficient lighting campaign, Nova Scotian residents can visit any Home Depot in the province to receive two free 15-watt compact fluorescent light bulbs. The give-away ends Sunday, May 20.

Premier Rodney MacDonald made the announcement Thursday in Sydney with Minister responsible for Conserve Nova Scotia Bill Dooks and Home Depot Canada President Annette Verschuren.

Conserve Nova Scotia also announced a partnership incentive program available for community and interest groups. Under the program, groups can apply for a $1 subsidy per bulb from the province for the bulk purchase of compact fluorescent light bulbs.

More information on both programs and a list of participating Home Depot locations can be found at www.itstartswithme.ca .
