When they get excited in Moncton, they get a Woody. It looks like Halifax has lost a well known symbol to the Hub City. You could almost say he's branching out. Christmas crowd favourite Woody, the talking Christmas Tree, is moving to Moncton, according to sources close to the vine.
He's been pleasing the kids for 20 years at the Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth, but mall management decided to axe Woody over safety concerns with the steel interior of the larger-than-life tree. The cost to fix Woody? About $50,000, according to reports.
Mall administrators opted to invest in a new display as opposed to fixing their beloved Woody.
Doomed for the wood pile, if appears that Woody was put on the wood block. Halifax Live has learned that officials in Moncton were able to secure Woody and plan to erect their larger-than-life Woody at a shopping mall in the Moncton region.
A Facebook group "RIP Woody the Talking Christmas Tree" has attracted more than 500 members since self-proclaimed Christmas queen Nancy Fougere started it this week, after learning about Woody's fate. |
